Vietnam Sept-Oct 2023 Info

Sept-Oct 2023 Vietnam Medical Mission
September 30th – October 11th, 2023

Medical Outreach of America is extremely pleased to offer the opportunity to return to Vietnam  in early fall of 2023. Building on our previous missions in 2019 and 2022, we will be working with our partners in Vietnam to deliver medical services to those suffering from permanent disabilities from Agent Orange exposure in the central region of Vietnam around Hue and Da Nang. We will again be partnering with the Medical University in Hue and our local NGO partner HUEFO during three days of clinics at the Phu Vang District Hospital outside Hue City. In 2022 we saw over six hundred patients and developed lasting relationships with our student translators and hospital staff.

In the closing days of our mission, we will travel to Da Nang to work with our student partners from the Medical Technology and Pharmacy University and the Da Nang Victims of Agent Orange at their regional treatment center just outside of town. We are hoping to expand our outreach this year to provide in-home visits for patients unable to travel to our clinics. These mobile teams will be created based on our team size. Speech Pathology, PT, OT, Geriatrics and Hospice are new and growing specialties in Vietnam; if you have any colleagues in these fields that might like to join us please encourage them.  While practitioners are needed in all fields, we are in particular need of General/Internal/Emergency medicine, Gynecology and Dermatology. There is also the option to speak at the Universities again this year. Please contact Mr. Steve Mason or myself directly if you are interested.

This will truly be a mission of a lifetime and will remain fresh in your memory for years to come. We ask for your commitment by August 20th so we can secure our working visas, accommodations and transfers. Despite the history of the 60’s and 70’s, the people of Vietnam are incredibly warm, open and inviting to Americans. Although the country has experienced incredible economic growth, the pandemic of the last two years has created a national health crisis, with the people in the rural provinces continuing to suffer under extreme poverty and lack of medical resources.  Please join us in our efforts to improve the medical condition of these proud and struggling people.

Thank you so much for your time and past commitments in helping the people of Vietnam. We hope you can do it again in 2023.

Cost: $2500.  Includes all in-country transportation during the mission, double occupancy lodging, meals, non- alcoholic drinks, tips fees, medical supplies, medications tours and transfers.
